We are very proud that La Guardia Airport in New York chose to fit out their ablution room with four WuduMate Classics. One of them has been positioned at a distance from the others, with a grab bar on the wall, so that it can be more easily used by people with limited mobility.

This Australian Police force chose the WuduMate Classic for their ablution room.

WuduMate Classic is an easily installed wudu washing appliance designed for commercial buildings such as offices, schools, hospitals, prisons, public buildings and leisure venues.
With an integral, virtually indestructible seat, which has been tested to over three tons, the WuduMate Classic is suitable for installation in the most inhospitable environments such as prisons, inner-city schools and unmonitored public places.
The WuduMate Classic comes with purpose-built taps, which have been designed with the spout in a comfortable position for wudu, and the fall of the water positioned to minimise splashing. Not only does the WuduMate Classic provide the user with a safe, comfortable position for wudu, but it also benefits building owners and facilities managers by protecting the fabric of buildings from water damage.

This customer had a space in their home bathroom area that was just perfect for the WuduMate Classic. They installed a towel rail directly above the unit to facilitate drying the feet after wudu. The unit blends in beautifully with the marble wall and floor tiles, to provide an area that is perfect for safe and comfortable wudu before prayers.

We were very pleased to hear from the Newcastle Hospitals Charity this week. They have been fundraising to set up a wudu facility for staff patients and visitors to the Freeman Hospital
They chose the WuduMate Classic for the wudu area and this has now been installed.

The following case study comes from the Newcastle Hospitals Charity Impact Report for 2023/24, which can be downloaded here
Wuḍu is the Islamic procedure for cleansing parts of the body before prayers and is a vital part of daily life for practising Muslims. The Chaplaincy team at Newcastle Hospitals were concerned that staff facilities for the practice of Wudu at the Freeman were substandard and not in keeping with the Trust’s aim to create a workplace where people feel valued.
The team received a grant for the conversion of an existing storeroom at the Freeman Hospital into an ablution room for use by Muslim staff, patients and visitors. The grant enabled a complete refurbishment of the space including asbestos removal, improvements to the walls, flooring and ceilings, and internal decoration. It is expected that the facility will be used on a daily basis by Muslim staff, patients and visitors.
Katie Watson, Head of Chaplaincy of Newcastle Hospitals said:
“This facility will have a huge impact on the spiritual and theological wellbeing of our Muslim staff, as well as on patients and their relatives. The grant enables us to support, retain and care for our Muslim staff by ensuring that their dignity and beliefs are recognised.”

We were delighted to hear that a police force in the UK has invested in wellbeing rooms in some of its offices.
One of the project team said “I understand the critical need for supportive environments when navigating challenging discussions.”
These beautiful peaceful rooms, providing space for prayer, meditation, or just a quiet time out, are bound to be well received both by staff and visitors to these premises. The inclusion of a comfortable and dignified wudu facility will be a comfort to Muslim visitors at what could be a stressful time.
