WuduMate Classic in a Newcastle Hospital
We were very pleased to hear from the Newcastle Hospitals Charity this week. They have been fundraising to set up a wudu facility for staff patients and visitors to the Freeman Hospital
They chose the WuduMate Classic for the wudu area and this has now been installed.
The following case study comes from the Newcastle Hospitals Charity Impact Report for 2023/24, which can be downloaded here
Wuḍu is the Islamic procedure for cleansing parts of the body before prayers and is a vital part of daily life for practising Muslims. The Chaplaincy team at Newcastle Hospitals were concerned that staff facilities for the practice of Wudu at the Freeman were substandard and not in keeping with the Trust’s aim to create a workplace where people feel valued.
The team received a grant for the conversion of an existing storeroom at the Freeman Hospital into an ablution room for use by Muslim staff, patients and visitors. The grant enabled a complete refurbishment of the space including asbestos removal, improvements to the walls, flooring and ceilings, and internal decoration. It is expected that the facility will be used on a daily basis by Muslim staff, patients and visitors.
Katie Watson, Head of Chaplaincy of Newcastle Hospitals said:
“This facility will have a huge impact on the spiritual and theological wellbeing of our Muslim staff, as well as on patients and their relatives. The grant enables us to support, retain and care for our Muslim staff by ensuring that their dignity and beliefs are recognised.”

Now his elderly and esteemed grandfather can perform his pre-prayer ablutions in dignity and comfort.
Our customer told us: “My grandad in Bangladesh is 100 years old and still in good health, and he is really happy to see this. Loving the product!”

“I didn’t always have a mineral water bottle to hand when I wanted to wash, and taking cups of water into a toilet is not always practical, so the WuduMate Personal is ideal. It can be easily carried in your pocket or handbag, can hold a litre of water which is far more than the small water bottles which we normally use, and after use can be easily folded away again for use next time.”

This 3 storey magnificently positioned mosque overlooks Rotherham in West Yorkshire in the UK, with a prayer hall on the ground floor and segregated teaching on the upper floors.

Completed in stages, the building design has taken advantage of the entire WuduMate range with its showcase wudu khana adopting the WuduMate Modular to provide an ablution area fit for busy prayer times.
On the upper floor, the wudu room for children women uses the WuduMate Compact, and the WuduMate Commercial* is used in the women’s ablution area on the first floor. The main men’s ablution area is on the ground floor next to the main prayer area, with a unique tropical fish tank acting as a wall to separate the two. There is a Modular also in the basement as an overflow wudu area.
