This Australian Police force chose the WuduMate Classic for their ablution room.

WuduMate Classic is an easily installed wudu washing appliance designed for commercial buildings such as offices, schools, hospitals, prisons, public buildings and leisure venues.
With an integral, virtually indestructible seat, which has been tested to over three tons, the WuduMate Classic is suitable for installation in the most inhospitable environments such as prisons, inner-city schools and unmonitored public places.
The WuduMate Classic comes with purpose-built taps, which have been designed with the spout in a comfortable position for wudu, and the fall of the water positioned to minimise splashing. Not only does the WuduMate Classic provide the user with a safe, comfortable position for wudu, but it also benefits building owners and facilities managers by protecting the fabric of buildings from water damage.

A large company in the United States has set up a multi-faith space in a zone in their warehouse. They chose the WuduMate Mobile for the male and female wudu ablution area, as it does not require any plumbing. The unit is filled and emptied at the nearest water supply and can then be wheeled to where it is needed.

We were very pleased to hear from the Newcastle Hospitals Charity this week. They have been fundraising to set up a wudu facility for staff patients and visitors to the Freeman Hospital
They chose the WuduMate Classic for the wudu area and this has now been installed.

The following case study comes from the Newcastle Hospitals Charity Impact Report for 2023/24, which can be downloaded here
Wuḍu is the Islamic procedure for cleansing parts of the body before prayers and is a vital part of daily life for practising Muslims. The Chaplaincy team at Newcastle Hospitals were concerned that staff facilities for the practice of Wudu at the Freeman were substandard and not in keeping with the Trust’s aim to create a workplace where people feel valued.
The team received a grant for the conversion of an existing storeroom at the Freeman Hospital into an ablution room for use by Muslim staff, patients and visitors. The grant enabled a complete refurbishment of the space including asbestos removal, improvements to the walls, flooring and ceilings, and internal decoration. It is expected that the facility will be used on a daily basis by Muslim staff, patients and visitors.
Katie Watson, Head of Chaplaincy of Newcastle Hospitals said:
“This facility will have a huge impact on the spiritual and theological wellbeing of our Muslim staff, as well as on patients and their relatives. The grant enables us to support, retain and care for our Muslim staff by ensuring that their dignity and beliefs are recognised.”

We were delighted to hear that a police force in the UK has invested in wellbeing rooms in some of its offices.
One of the project team said “I understand the critical need for supportive environments when navigating challenging discussions.”
These beautiful peaceful rooms, providing space for prayer, meditation, or just a quiet time out, are bound to be well received both by staff and visitors to these premises. The inclusion of a comfortable and dignified wudu facility will be a comfort to Muslim visitors at what could be a stressful time.

The Specialist Washing Company were extremely helpful when we contacted them, immediately able to relate to our issues, and this helped us to quickly provide an ideal solution to this sensitive issue. In hindsight, it would have been easier if the WuduMates had been included in the buildings’ original designs, and in the future, we would encourage this.”

This customer has adapted a large bathroom area, in order to make a place for Muslim employees to perform wudu. They have chosen the WuduMate Compact with a pillar tap, and non-slip matting around the unit. There are paper towels above the unit, so the feet can be dried while still seated, avoiding splashing on the floor.
On the sink you can see the sign which will be attached to the door, to indicate the wudu area for visitors to the building.

This office chose the WuduMate Mobile for its pre-prayer ablution area. The company has a small Muslim workforce, and so it made sense to have a small wudu basin in the multi-faith area.
The WuduMate Mobile does not have to be plumbed in – it can be easily moved to another area if required. This means that the Wudumate Mobile is a great choice when employees first ask for an ablution area and a prayer space in an office. It can be deployed immediately, with no preparation in any room that has been designated as a prayer and ablution area.
If the company then goes on to design and fit a full multi-faith room in due course, the unit can be moved to the new area with the minimum of disruption.

5 Ways to make a Multi-Faith Workplace Work
Are you ready to unlock the full potential of your diverse workforce?
At WuduMate, we’re well aware of the challenges involved in creating an environment where everyone feels included and valued. We believe that embracing diversity isn’t just a box to tick – it’s the key to fostering innovation, boosting retention, and creating a workplace where every individual feels valued and respected.
Here are five powerful ways to transform your workplace into a vibrant hub of inclusivity:
1. Empower Through Education
Kickstart your journey towards inclusivity by emphasising the importance of diversity education. From frontline employees to top-level managers, Diversity training should be a compulsory training module across every organisation, ensuring all staff are able to apply inclusive principles to everything they do.
A good training programme should address all types of diversity, including race, culture and religion. It should teach employees how to embrace our differences and use them to create great work, and never to discriminate, judge or dismiss them.

2. Neutralise Bias in Recruitment:
Unconscious bias can unknowingly seep into the hiring process, hindering efforts to build a diverse team. Blind hiring techniques, neutral language in job descriptions, and objective criteria can ensure that every candidate has a fair chance can help to make sure that no biases creep into play.
3. Respect Religious Holidays:
Imagine a workplace where every employee feels empowered to celebrate their religious holidays without fear or hesitation. By honouring diverse religious observances and offering flexibility in time off, you demonstrate genuine respect for your team’s beliefs.
4. Inclusive Dress Codes:
When it comes to dress codes in the workplace, it’s essential for businesses to strike a balance between professionalism and inclusivity. While enforcing a dress code, whether it’s a uniform or not, is reasonable, accommodating religious garments can sometimes be challenging.
In the UK, employers are obligated to “reasonably accommodate” the beliefs and needs of their staff under the Equality Act 2010. However, there are instances where safety concerns may arise, such as in manual labour roles. In such cases, it may be necessary for employers to restrict certain items of clothing if they pose a health and safety risk.
The key to maintaining inclusivity and respect is to find a middle ground that prioritises both cultural diversity and workplace safety. By adhering to health and safety regulations while remaining open and accommodating to religious attire, businesses can foster an environment that embraces diversity while ensuring the well-being of all employees.

5. Multi-Faith Spaces for Spiritual Reflection:
As an employer, demonstrating a willingness to accommodate your employees’ religious beliefs and needs is paramount. Providing a designated space for prayer. meditation or reflection, is a tangible way to show support for diversity and inclusion in the workplace. Providing a segregated ablution area with appropriate washing appliances for male and female Muslims, who perform a ritual ablution practice called wudu before each of their prayers, will help to make the experience even more meaningful for those employees.
While it’s not a legal requirement, creating such a space aligns with best practices for fostering a truly inclusive multi-faith environment. In cases where space constraints limit the availability of a dedicated room, a viable compromise could involve scheduling specific times for prayer in a meeting room.
People of all religious faiths and none, may have their own preferences and requirements when it comes to the design of your wellbeing or multi-faith room. It’s a good idea to consult with a diverse sample of your staff at the planning stage, to discover what kind of space they would ideally like to see. We have listed some common things that people ask for in our booklet Diversity Matters – Guide to Best Practice Multi-Faith Room Design, which will help you with the design and specification process.
Conclusion
Embracing diversity not only enriches the workplace culture but also yields numerous benefits, including heightened innovation, improved retention rates, and enhanced employee satisfaction. To bridge the gap between HR managers’ perceptions of inclusivity and the actual beliefs of employees, proactive measures must be taken to ensure that all cultural values are acknowledged and respected in a professional manner.
If you’d like to explore how incorporating a WuduMate ablution appliance in your workplace can enhance inclusivity and accommodate the diverse religious needs of your workplace, don’t hesitate to get in touch with our team on +44 (0)1784 748080.
We’re here to provide guidance and support to help you create a truly inclusive environment where every one of your employees feels valued and respected.
“I didn’t always have a mineral water bottle to hand when I wanted to wash, and taking cups of water into a toilet is not always practical, so the WuduMate is ideal. It can be easily carried in your pocket or handbag, can hold a litre of water which is far more than the small water bottles which we normally use, and after use can be easily folded away again for use next time.”
The Mobile World Congress in Barcelona is the largest and most influential event for the connectivity ecosystem. According to their publicity, tens of thousands of senior executives from the top global companies, international governments and trailblazing tech businesses converge at MWC Barcelona.
So we were very pleased to hear that this prestigious event provided prayer facilities for its Muslim guests, and chose the WuduMate Mobile to set up a temporary ablution area for men and women within the exhibition space.
The WuduMate Mobile is perfect for events like this, as it does not need to be plumbed in, and can be wheeled to wherever it is needed, and then wheeled to the bathroom facilities to be emptied and refilled with fresh water.
The stool is movable so guests of different heights can have the seat at the distance they need from the water supply and the stool can also be removed for guests who prefer standing wudu or wheelchair users.

Royal Nawaab emphasis on preparing fresh food with the finest ingredients, the team of skilled chefs at Royal Nawaab in Manchester go above and beyond to ensure that the hundreds of diners every night experience the finest halal cuisine.
Drawing on influences from India and Pakistan, the authentic cuisine is a huge favourite of the large and inscrutable local Asian community, who show their support by using the facility for large corporate events, parties and weddings.
Since opening in 2002 Royal Nawaab has been constantly looking to improve its facilities, and in 2015 a project was undertaken to refurbish the bathrooms leading to the banquet rooms. It was decided as part of this project to provide an alternative to the washbasins being used for wudu, since these did not match the up-market image being portrayed by the rest of the restaurant.
WuduMate was soon identified as the leading supplier of appliances for wudu, and three WuduMate Modular units were installed upstairs next to the prayer room and the banquet rooms, two in the men’s area and one in the ladies area. The contractor used by Royal Nawaab stated “I can tell you that the WuduMates were a lot cheaper to install than the tiled units we put in place downstairs” and I would recommend them”.
Royal Nawaab is delighted with the response received following installation of the WuduMates, site manager Harri stated “if we had known about the WuduMate earlier, we would definitely have installed them downstairs as well!” He continued, “the installation has proved to be quick and inexpensive, and everyone who has experienced the facility has given positive feedback”.
